China's Leader Travels to North Korea for Important Meeting

China's President Xi Jinping made a special trip to North Korea this week to meet with Kim Jong Un. This was the first time in seven years that Xi visited North Korea. The meeting was very important because it showed how much China values its friendship with North Korea. Xi usually has world leaders come visit him in China, but this time he traveled to meet Kim.

Earlier this year, many powerful leaders visited Xi in Beijing, including US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. These visits happened just days apart and showed that China wants to be seen as a major world power. Xi has been working hard to build relationships with countries around the globe. China is concerned about North Korea's growing friendship with Russia. North Korea has been helping Russia in its war with Ukraine by sending soldiers and weapons. Kim Jong Un rolled out the red carpet for Xi during his visit. He put up giant pictures of Xi on billboards all over Pyongyang, the capital city of North Korea. Kim also threw a big party with circus acts, songs about friendship, and a huge screen that said 'I love you China' in Chinese letters. The two leaders promised to work together more closely and called their friendship 'unbreakable.'
