Boston Has Lots of Fun Events This Weekend
Music shows, plays, art exhibits, and comedy acts are happening all around the city.
Boston and nearby towns have many fun events happening this weekend and next week. People can see live music, watch plays, visit art museums, and laugh at comedy shows. Most events cost between $15 and $50 to attend. The shows are happening at theaters, music halls, and other venues around the area.
There are many different types of shows for people who like different kinds of music. A band called Bent Shapes is getting back together after seven years apart. They will play at Deep Cuts in Medford on June 6 at 7 p.m. Baby Keem, a rapper and music producer, will perform at MGM Music Hall at Fenway on June 7 and 8.
Folk and country music fans have several options too. Joshua Ray Walker makes hardcore country music and will play at The Middle East Upstairs in Cambridge on June 5. His newest album is called "Ain't Dead Yet" because he thought he might die from cancer but then got better. Kevin Morby will perform at Royale in Boston on June 7 with songs from his eighth album.
Theater fans have many plays to choose from this weekend. "My Home on the Moon" is playing at Plaza Theatre in Boston through June 13. It's a funny science fiction story about a Vietnamese restaurant in a changing neighborhood. The play shows how important family traditions and community can be.
People who enjoy dance can see several different shows. Dance Now Boston brings together dancers from Boston and New York for their 12th season. The show runs June 6-7 at Dance Complex in Cambridge. There's also a free outdoor festival called Dance for World Community on June 6 in Harvard Square.
Art museums have some special exhibits right now. The Peabody Essex Museum in Salem has a show about Edmonia Lewis, an artist who was both Black and Native American. She made beautiful stone sculptures in the 1800s when it was very hard for women and people of color to become artists. The show runs through June 7, so this is the last chance to see it.
