Texas Politicians Use Mean Names to Attack Democratic Candidate

May 28, 2026 · Wired

Ken Paxton calls opponent James Talarico names like "Low-T" and questions his eating habits in new campaign attacks.

Texas politicians are using mean names and personal attacks in their campaign for U.S. Senate. Ken Paxton won the Republican primary and immediately started calling his Democratic opponent James Talarico insulting nicknames. He uses names like 'Low-T Talarico' and 'Six-Gender Jimmy' to try to make Talarico seem weak. These attacks focus on what Talarico eats and try to question whether he is masculine enough.

The name-calling comes from internet groups that are obsessed with being tough and masculine. These online communities often make fun of men they think are weak or different. They believe eating meat and having high levels of testosterone makes men stronger and more powerful. Some of these ideas have started to influence politics and government officials.

Paxton's campaign ads say Talarico is 'too low-T for Texas,' suggesting he doesn't have enough testosterone. Other Trump supporters have joined in with false claims about Talarico. Trump himself said that being vegan would make someone unelectable in Texas. However, Talarico is not actually vegan or transgender as his opponents claim.

The attacks show how internet culture is affecting real politics. Male-focused podcasts and social media often promote these ideas about masculinity and diet. Some government officials have also embraced these concepts, even though scientists say they are not based on good research. The question is whether Texas voters will care about these types of personal attacks when they vote.

Ken Paxton is desperate to deflect from the fact that his own party impeached him and he's the most corrupt politician in America.
