Two Texas Politicians Continue Their Fight for Senate Seat
Ken Paxton and James Talarico trade attacks as they prepare for the November election.
Paxton visited Washington, D.C., where he met with Senate Republican leaders. These leaders had supported his rival John Cornyn before the primary. But after Paxton's big win, they decided to help him raise money. Paxton also met with President Trump at the White House to discuss campaign plans.
Senator Cornyn returned to Washington after his election loss. When asked if he still believes Paxton is unfit to serve, Cornyn stood firm. He said Paxton won fairly, but voters will have to judge for themselves. Cornyn believes this political battle is far from over.
Talarico campaigned across five Texas cities, ending in Plano. Nearly 4,000 people attended his rally at the Plano Center. He criticized Paxton's record and promised to bring accountability. Talarico said Paxton serves himself instead of the people of Texas.
In an interesting move, Talarico visited a Dallas barbecue restaurant. This was notable because he previously promoted eating less meat. He used this visit to discuss rising beef prices and trade policies. Talarico blamed President Trump's tariffs for hurting Texas ranchers and barbecue joints.
Ken Paxton is everything that's wrong with this broken system.
