German Referee to Officiate Champions League Final
Daniel Siebert will manage the big soccer match between Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain.
A German referee named Daniel Siebert will officiate the Champions League final between Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain. The big soccer match will take place at the Puskas Arena in Budapest on Saturday, May 30th. UEFA's Referees Committee chose Siebert to manage one of the most important games in European soccer. This will be a huge responsibility for the experienced official.
Siebert is 42 years old and has been a referee for 11 years since starting in 2015. He has already worked nine UEFA Champions League matches this season alone. This shows he is trusted by soccer officials to handle big games. His experience makes him a good choice for such an important final.
The German referee has already officiated two Arsenal matches this season. He was the referee when Arsenal beat Sporting Lisbon 1-0 in the quarter-finals. He also managed Arsenal's 1-0 victory over Atletico Madrid in the semi-finals. Arsenal fans might be happy about this since their team won both games when Siebert was the referee.
Interestingly, Siebert has never given a yellow card to any Arsenal player this season. He only showed three yellow cards total in both Arsenal games he managed. However, he did officiate one Paris Saint-Germain match this season where Athletic Bilbao and PSG tied 0-0. In that game, he gave out four yellow cards to players.
The 42-year-old has 11 years of experience since beginning his career in 2015.
