People Hurt at London Festival After Reports of a Stampede

Several people were hurt on Saturday, August 1, at a music festival in North London called Ghana Party in the Park. The event was shut down early after a large crowd pushed through the entrance, causing people to fall and get injured. Police and ambulance workers arrived at the scene to help those who were hurt.

The festival was being held at Copthall Playing Fields in North London. Organizers said the event was closed suddenly because of overcrowding. They stated that the decision was made to keep everyone safe.

An 18-year-old attendee named Kieran Turnbull told The Sun newspaper what he saw. He said a stampede came through the main entrance where security was checking bags and clothing. 'People were being carried out on stretchers. It became very very chaotic,' he said.

Another person at the event told the Daily Mail that two air ambulance helicopters flew in to take some of the injured to the hospital. That person also said around 1,000 people were stuck outside the event and had been unable to get in since 2 p.m. Videos posted on social media showed people crowding together, rushing, and falling over one another.
