Packers React to Micah Parsons' NFL Top 100 Spot

August 26, 2026 · Newsweek

The Green Bay Packers' star defender jumped from No. 36 to No. 8 on the NFL's player ranking list, voted on by his fellow players.

Green Bay Packers defensive end Micah Parsons has earned a big honor. The NFL named him No. 8 on its Top 100 Players list for this year. The list is voted on by other players in the league, making it one of the most respected rankings in football. The reveal happened on Wednesday, and the Packers were quick to celebrate their star on social media.

Parsons made a huge jump on this year's list. Last year, he was ranked No. 36, so moving up to No. 8 is a major leap. The NFL shared a video showing off his best plays, with comments from his teammates, his opponents, and Parsons himself. The Packers posted about the news on X, writing, 'Point to the sky if you're in the NFL Top 100.'

Parsons joined the Packers in August 2025 after being traded from the Dallas Cowboys. Last season was his first with Green Bay, and he made a strong impression right away. He recorded 19 solo tackles and 12.5 sacks, which ranked seventh in the entire NFL. He also forced two fumbles and defended one pass — all in just 14 games played.

His former teammate Romeo Doubs spoke about one of Parsons' most exciting plays. 'When we played Detroit the first game, he was literally sprinting off the edge but chasing the quarterback, and then went and dove,' Doubs said. 'Dude's just fast, bro.' That kind of speed and effort made Parsons stand out to everyone who watched him play.

Parsons talked about what drives him to keep performing at such a high level. He said his highlights sacking quarterbacks Jared Goff and Dak Prescott show his mindset. 'That just goes to the effort and the mentality that you got to keep hunting,' he said. For Parsons, no play is over until he stops chasing.

Unfortunately, Parsons suffered a serious injury last season. He tore his ACL and meniscus in his left knee while trying to chase down Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix. It was a non-contact injury, meaning no one hit him — he hurt himself during the play. As a result, he missed the rest of the season, including the playoffs.

Without Parsons, the Packers still made the playoffs but lost to the Chicago Bears in the NFC Wild Card Round. His return this season is very important for the team. He is expected to come back in Week 6 on October 18 for a Sunday Night Football game against his old team, the Dallas Cowboys. That will be a big moment for Parsons and for Packers fans everywhere.

"I'm coming for that number one spot," Parsons says at the start of the NFL's video.
