NYC Schools Ban AI Tools in a Bold New Move

The new policy is also about keeping student information safe. Mamdani warned that tech companies could collect and use data about children for their own business goals. 'New Yorkers deserve to know that their kids will receive a high-quality education,' he said. He added that families also deserve to know their children's personal information will not be grabbed by big companies. Protecting student privacy was a key reason behind the decision.
