Two friends on off-road vehicles found Kathryn Jane Woessner nearly buried beside her van in a remote Minnesota forest.
A 68-year-old Minnesota woman was found alive after being trapped in thick mud for three days. Kathryn Jane Woessner from Alexandria, Minnesota, was rescued on Saturday, June 6. Two men riding off-road vehicles discovered her stuck in mud next to her van in a remote forest area. She was taken to a hospital and is expected to recover from her scary experience.
Woessner had been missing since June 3 when her family reported her disappearance. Police had been searching for her for three days before she was found. The rescue happened about 80 miles away from her hometown in a wooded area near Backus, Minnesota. She was found in such a remote place that it was difficult for emergency workers to reach her.
Adam Sandbeck and Mike Gravalin were the two friends who found Woessner. They were riding their off-road vehicles through muddy trails after their original riding plans changed. The men decided to explore a trail they had never been on before. When they came to a clearing in the forest, they saw a van that seemed out of place.
At first, the two men thought they had found a dead body lying in the mud. Only a small part of Woessner's face was visible above the thick, muddy water. Her ears were completely covered by the mud, and she was barely able to breathe. Then something amazing happened when she whispered for help.
She said it was like quicksand, and she couldn't get out.
