Micah Parsons Sends Strong Message Ahead of His Return to the Field

Green Bay Packers linebacker Micah Parsons is eager to get back on the football field after missing time due to a serious knee injury. He tore his ACL and meniscus late last season, which ended his year early. Parsons recently spoke with NFL Network at the Packers' training camp to talk about what he expects from himself when he returns. His most optimistic return date is Week 6 of the upcoming NFL season.

Parsons is currently on the physically unable to perform list, which is also called the PUP list. That means he is at training camp but cannot practice with his teammates yet while he heals. He spoke with NFL Network reporters Stacey Dales and Brian Baldinger on a show called 'Inside Training Camp Live.' Even though he cannot play right now, Parsons made it clear he believes he is still one of the best pass rushers in the entire league.

During the interview, reporter Brian Baldinger called Parsons the best pass rusher in the NFL. However, Baldinger noted that some people argue that Myles Garrett holds that title. Garrett had a huge season with the Cleveland Browns last year, winning the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award and setting a new record for the most sacks in a single season. This offseason, Garrett was traded to the Los Angeles Rams in a big deal.

Parsons pushed back on the comparison and explained why he feels he stands apart. He said his edge is not just about rushing the passer but about understanding the whole game at a high level. 'I think I'm above IQ than every rusher in the league. I've learned from the best,' Parsons said. He added that his deep understanding of football lets him do things on the field that no one else can do.

Parsons started his NFL career with the Dallas Cowboys in 2021 and quickly became one of the league's top pass rushers. In 2025, the Cowboys traded him to the Green Bay Packers after he held out for a better contract. The Packers then signed him to a historic deal that made him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the entire NFL at that time.

Last season, Parsons played in 14 games and recorded 41 combined tackles and 12.5 sacks. Even while recovering from his injury, he earned honors showing just how respected he is around the league. He was selected to his fifth Pro Bowl and was named a first-team All-Pro for the third time in his career. Those are some of the highest honors a defensive player can receive.

When Parsons does return, his first big game could be a very meaningful one. His most optimistic return date of Week 6 would bring him back just in time to face his former team, the Dallas Cowboys, on October 18. That game will air on NBC's 'Sunday Night Football,' meaning millions of fans will be watching. For the Packers, getting Parsons back will be a huge boost after they lost to the Chicago Bears in the NFL Playoffs last season.
