The Mansfield Timberview Wolves football team is off to a hot start this season with a 3-0 record. The team has a new head coach, Jacody Coleman, who wants the players to think big. Their motto says it all: 'One Shot.' The idea is simple — make the most of every chance you get.

Coleman was announced as Timberview's new head football coach and athletic coordinator on March 26. He came from Dallas Skyline High School, where he coached in one of the toughest divisions in Class 6A football. Now he has brought that experience and a winning attitude to Timberview. He wants his players to understand that every game and every season is a chance they should not waste.

One of the biggest reasons for Timberview's early success is junior quarterback Steven Hall. Through just three games, Hall has thrown 15 touchdown passes and completed 68% of his throws. Last season, he appeared in six games and threw 14 touchdown passes. His fast start has made him one of the most exciting young players to watch in the area.

Hall's growth has been about more than just stats on a scoreboard. In an interview with CBS Sports Texas, Hall talked about what it was like to begin last season as a backup player. That experience was tough, but it taught him a lot about staying focused and working hard. He said going through that challenge helped shape the way he approaches the game today.

This offseason, Hall made it a goal to grow as a leader for his team. As one of the youngest players in Timberview's starting group, he knew he had to step up. 'I definitely had to step up as a leader,' Hall said. 'You just have to step up maturity-wise and act like them and be a leader.' His teammates have noticed the change, and the team has responded with three straight wins.

Coach Coleman has set high standards for what success looks like at Timberview. The team has made the playoffs for eight years in a row, but Coleman does not think simply reaching the playoffs is good enough. He expects the Wolves to advance at least to the third round of the playoffs every year. Anything less than that, he said, would not be a good season.

The players have fully bought into Coleman's vision for the program. They are not just happy to be in the postseason — they want to make a deep run. Hall shared the team's biggest dream: 'If we go out every game and continue to play how we have been playing, we can definitely go for a state championship run.' With a new coach, a rising quarterback, and three wins already in the books, the Timberview Wolves are determined to make their one shot count.
