Lions Named as Landing Spot for All-Pro Pass Rusher Maxx Crosby

The Detroit Lions have been close to winning a championship for a few years now, but they haven't been able to get over the top. Former NFL general manager Mike Tannenbaum thinks he knows exactly what the Lions need to finally break through. He believes Detroit should trade for Maxx Crosby, an All-Pro pass rusher who currently plays for the Las Vegas Raiders.

Tannenbaum shared his idea on ESPN's morning show 'Get Up.' He said the Lions should offer two second-round draft picks to get Crosby. His plan would pair Crosby with Detroit's own All-Pro pass rusher, Aidan Hutchinson, creating a very scary duo for opposing quarterbacks to deal with.

Crosby is 28 years old and will turn 29 in August. He is considered one of the best pass rushers in the NFL when he is healthy. However, he has had some health concerns recently that have made other teams nervous about trading for him.

Earlier this offseason, the Baltimore Ravens almost traded for Crosby. The deal would have cost Baltimore two first-round draft picks. But the Ravens walked away from the trade because Crosby did not pass his physical exam, meaning team doctors had concerns about his body being ready to play.

The reason for those concerns became clear later. Crosby had surgery to fix a torn meniscus in his left knee. Doctors also treated other damage to the bone and cartilage in that same knee, which had ended his 2024 season early.

Despite the injuries, Crosby's career numbers are very impressive. Since being drafted in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, he has recorded 439 tackles, 69.5 sacks, 11 forced fumbles, and 29 passes defensed. Those are the kinds of numbers that prove he is one of the top pass rushers of his era.

The big question now is what the Raiders would want in return for Crosby, especially after the failed Baltimore deal. It is unclear whether they would still ask for two first-round picks or settle for less. The Lions could be in a good position to make an offer since they are looking to win now.

If Detroit were able to pair Crosby with Hutchinson, it could be a game-changer for the team's defense. Together, they would likely form one of the most dangerous pass-rushing pairs in the entire NFL. That kind of defensive pressure could be just what Detroit needs to finally win its first Super Bowl championship.
