Family Friend Says Patrick Clancy's TV Interview Was a "Missed Opportunity"

A woman who grew up with Lindsay Clancy says that a recent TV interview with Patrick Clancy — Lindsay's ex-husband — missed its chance to teach people about postpartum psychosis, a serious mental illness. Brittany Romano told Newsweek that Patrick's appearance on the TV show 60 Minutes left too many important questions unanswered. The interview aired after Lindsay Clancy's trial ended without a verdict earlier this month. Romano believes the show could have done much more to help people understand what happened.

Patrick Clancy talked about grief, forgiveness, and the pain of losing his three children during the interview. He said he believed Lindsay's actions were caused by severe mental illness, not by hatred or cruelty. He also shared that he struggled with suicidal thoughts and had a serious panic attack while testifying at the trial. He spoke out against online conspiracy theories, calling them 'deeply harmful' to his children's memory.

Romano, who is 33 years old, said she felt the interview did not cover the topics that mattered most. She pointed out that the show never mentioned a malpractice lawsuit, Patrick's own testimony, or the timeline of events on the night of the tragedy. She also noted that the interview came just nine days before a court hearing that will decide whether Lindsay will face a new trial. 'I don't think that the right questions were asked,' Romano said.

Romano also felt the interview failed to properly explain postpartum psychosis to viewers. Postpartum psychosis is a rare but very serious mental illness that can affect some women after giving birth. Romano said it seemed like Patrick himself did not fully understand the illness. She believes that raising awareness about postpartum mental health should have been the main focus of the interview.

Patrick was not alone during the interview. Near the end, his new wife, Rachel Danis, joined him on screen. Danis called Patrick 'the most selfless father and supportive partner.' The couple also announced that they are expecting a baby together, which Patrick said he looks forward to telling about 'their brothers and sister.'

Romano was unsure why Danis appeared in the interview. She said the pregnancy announcement felt oddly placed and did not fit the rest of the conversation. Romano questioned whether Danis was there for moral support or simply to show a more human side of the couple. She later added that she understood why family or advisers might have encouraged Danis to appear.

Romano herself drew public attention during Lindsay's trial. A video of her smiling in the courtroom spread widely on the internet, and people online called her the 'Green Dress Lady.' She had been at the trial as a journalist, connected to Vanity Fair magazine because of her personal relationship with Lindsay. After the video went viral, Vanity Fair cut ties with her.

Lindsay Clancy's trial ended in a mistrial earlier this month. Jurors were not able to agree on a verdict after seven days of trying to reach one. A court hearing is now scheduled for September 29, 2026, to discuss what happens next. The key question is whether prosecutors will put Lindsay on trial again.
