Couple Gets Married and Prepares for Baby on the Way

June 9, 2026 · The Boston Globe

Steve Kelly and Kelcey McGeown-Conron decided to start their family and get engaged at the same time.

Steve Kelly and Kelcey McGeown-Conron got married on March 7 in Massachusetts. The couple met two years ago and decided to get engaged and start a family at the same time. Their baby is due in July, just a few months after their wedding day.

Steve had been living on Long Island for six years after college. He worked as a software engineer and planned to move back to Boston. Before leaving New York, he went hiking with his cousin Sean. They talked about life and what was important to them.

Steve told his cousin that he wanted to find someone to marry and have children with. He said that would be his main goal when he moved to Boston. Two years later, he met Kelcey on a dating app called Hinge. Kelcey studied health and exercise science in college.

Their first date lasted much longer than they expected. They walked and talked for hours along the Charles River and Memorial Drive. By the end of the day, they had walked 21,000 steps together. Steve said he felt no stress during the date, which was unusual for him.

Three days after their first date was Steve's 30th birthday. Kelcey, who was 31 at the time, loves to bake. She surprised him with a mini Oreo cheesecake at the outdoor chess tables in Harvard Square. She lit a candle and sang happy birthday to him.

For us, it was actually, Let's start trying to have a kid.
