From Zero to 100,000 in Under Two Years: Chinese EV Brand Hits UK Sales Milestone
Omoda and Jaecoo have sold more than 100,000 cars in the UK in less than two years, making them one of the fastest-growing car brands in Britain.
Two Chinese car brands — Omoda and Jaecoo — have reached a big goal. They have sold more than 100,000 cars in the United Kingdom, and they did it in less than two years. That is a remarkable achievement for brands that most British drivers had never heard of before 2024.
Omoda launched in the UK on August 31, 2024. Its sister brand, Jaecoo, followed in January 2025. Together, the two brands now hold almost 5.7 percent of the UK's new-car market. That figure comes from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, also known as the SMMT.
The biggest seller of the two brands is the Jaecoo 7. More than 53,000 of them have been registered since it went on sale in February 2025. It looks similar to a Range Rover and has been one of Britain's ten best-selling cars since September of last year. About 75 percent of buyers choose the plug-in hybrid version, which runs on both electricity and petrol.
The Omoda 5 was the first car from either brand to go on sale in Britain. It has racked up more than 36,500 sales. Buyers can choose from petrol, hybrid, or fully electric versions. About 71 percent of those sales have gone to private buyers, not businesses or fleet companies.
The two brands now offer a wide range of cars. The lineup includes the Omoda 5, 7, and 9, plus the Jaecoo 5, 7, and 8. These cars run on petrol, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and all-electric power. So while the 100,000 total is not all electric cars, electric and electrified models have played a major role in the brands' quick rise.
Omoda and Jaecoo have not just been selling cars — they have also been building a business across the UK. They now have more than 144 dealerships, with shops in most major cities. These dealerships are supported by parts hubs, after-sales service teams, and a new warranty program to help customers after they buy.
Both brands are owned by Chery, a large Chinese car company. Chery has already sold more than 20,000 of its own cars in the UK this year alone. The wider Chery group has now sold more than 20 million vehicles around the world, with Omoda and Jaecoo accounting for 570,000 of those sales.
There is more growth on the way. The brands plan to launch new models, including the Omoda 4. They also plan to open more dealerships during the rest of 2026. In September, the company plans a special celebration day to thank its 100,000 customers and mark the milestone anniversary.
Gary Lan, the CEO of Omoda and Jaecoo UK, said the success came from putting people first. He explained that the company invested heavily in its workers, its dealerships, and the experience of owning one of its cars right from the start. He said the milestone shows that customers trust the brands and believe in their long-term vision. He also thanked the 100,000 drivers, calling them the true reason behind the achievement.
Surpassing 100,000 vehicle sales in under two years is a significant milestone for everyone involved.
