SpaceX Plans to Go Public in a Whole New Way

June 8, 2026 · The Independent

Elon Musk's space company is breaking many Wall Street rules with its upcoming stock offering.

SpaceX is one of the most famous space companies in the world. Elon Musk started the company to build rockets and satellites. The company has sent astronauts to space and launches satellites for other companies. Now SpaceX wants to sell shares of the company to regular people for the first time.

Going public means a company sells parts of itself to investors who want to own a piece of the business. When people buy these shares, they become part owners of the company. If the company does well, the shares become worth more money. If the company struggles, the shares lose value.

SpaceX has some very big goals for the future of space travel. The company wants to help humans live on Mars someday. It also wants to provide fast internet service all around the world using satellites in space. SpaceX believes that exploring space will help us learn more about the universe and keep humanity safe.

Many people are excited to invest in SpaceX because they believe in Elon Musk's vision for the future. Investors have already shown interest in buying $150 billion worth of shares, even though the company is only selling $75 billion worth. This shows that many people think SpaceX will be very successful in the years to come.

Our mission is to build the systems and technologies necessary to make life multiplanetary, to understand the true nature of the universe, and to extend the light of consciousness to the stars.
