Fun Events Coming Up in the Elgin Area This Summer

July 3, 2026 · Chicago Tribune

From a beer tasting fundraiser to a free zoo concert, the Elgin area has something for everyone this July.

The Carpentersville Rotary Club is hosting its Blind Flights beer tasting fundraiser on Saturday, July 11, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Carpenter Park in Carpentersville. Nine local businesses will provide drinks, and there will also be live music. Food will be available from No Manches and Duke's Blues-N-BBQ. The first 150 guests will receive a free tasting glass, and tickets cost $40. Visit carpentersvillerotary.org/page/blindflights2026 for more details.

On Sunday, July 12, a benefit concert will celebrate the 60th anniversary of Anderson Humane, an animal shelter in South Elgin. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the St. Charles Motorcycle Museum & Art Gallery. Four bands will perform, including The Bare Hambones and Saturday Morning Punk Rock Club. Raffles and free museum admission are also part of the day. All ages are welcome, and donations will be accepted at the door.

Also on July 12, the Fox River Trolley Museum will hold 'All Aboard Days' for visitors with special needs, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The museum will make its trolley rides more sensory-friendly, meaning calmer and less overwhelming for guests who need a quieter experience. A special quiet train and a sensory-friendly area will also be available. People who need extra help should contact the museum before they visit. Regular admission rates apply, and no reservations are required.

A free outdoor concert will take place on Monday, July 13, from noon to 1 p.m. at Lords Park Zoo in Elgin. Chamber Music on the Fox will present The Outset Trio, a group that plays violin, viola, and double bass. The musicians were inspired to perform together by their mentor, the world-famous cellist Yo-Yo Ma. Their program will feature music by composer Mark O'Connor, who blends bluegrass, country, jazz, and classical styles. The concert is open to the public at no cost.

The Seigle Foundation recently awarded $356,250 in education grants to 11 nonprofit organizations in the area. The groups that received funding help children with disabilities, support early learning, and promote literacy. One recipient, Easterseals DuPage & Fox Valley, said the money helps families remove obstacles so their children can reach important milestones. The foundation also supports work in the arts, food insecurity, and affordable housing. More information is available at seiglefoundation.org.

The Association for Individual Development (AID) is holding a free family fun event on Friday, July 10, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Wildwood Commons Apartments in Elgin. The gathering will include free ice cream, games, and activities for children. AID is a nonprofit that provides mental health and case management services, and the event helps the community learn about those services. No tickets are needed, and everyone is welcome. Call 877-243-0001 for more information.

"This support helps eliminate barriers for families and makes it possible for children with developmental disabilities in our communities to achieve milestones that once felt out of reach."
