May 31, 2026 · The Guardian

London soccer team holds victory parade after winning England's top league title.

Arsenal soccer players celebrated with hundreds of thousands of fans in London on Sunday. The team held a big parade even though they lost an important game the night before. They rode on special buses through the streets to celebrate winning England's Premier League championship. Fans had been waiting since early morning to see their favorite players.

Arsenal lost a penalty shootout to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final on Saturday night. The game ended 1-1, but Paris won when both teams took penalty kicks. Gabriel Magalhães, an Arsenal defender, missed his penalty shot. Even though the loss was painful, Gabriel said he was proud of his team on Instagram.

The victory parade started at 2:15 in the afternoon from Arsenal's home stadium. The players traveled 5.6 miles through north London on open-top buses. Team captain Martin Ødegaard was first to get on the bus. He held up the Premier League trophy for everyone to see.

Fans started gathering along the parade route very early in the morning. Seb Olid owns a coffee shop on Holloway Road where the parade passed. He said the celebration was amazing compared to when Arsenal last won the league in 2004. 'It's the most insane I have ever seen it,' he told reporters.

Young player Myles Lewis-Skelly was born after Arsenal's last championship in 2004. The 19-year-old started in the Champions League final and spoke about the team's success. He said he was proud of his teammates and the whole organization. His message to fans was simple: 'Thank you, and we're not done!'

It's the most insane I have ever seen it.
