Amazon Launches New AI Devices That Listen to Your Conversations and Take Notes
Two small wearable gadgets from Amazon can record talks, write summaries, and send reminders — all without you lifting a finger.
Amazon announced two new artificial intelligence gadgets on Thursday that can listen to your conversations and take notes for you. The devices are called the Bee Frontier and the Bee Eclipse. They were made by a company called Bee, which Amazon bought last year. Amazon says these small gadgets can help people remember important details from everyday talks and meetings.
The Bee Frontier is a soft wristband made of silicone, and it can also be clipped onto clothing. It sells for $74.99. The Bee Eclipse is about the size of a credit card and sticks to the back of a phone using a magnet. That one costs $99.99. Both gadgets have tiny microphones inside that pick up sound during conversations.
These devices are called "personal AI" tools because they work for each user in a personal way. They listen to conversations and write up a summary of what was said. They can also suggest goals and remind users about tasks based on what they heard. For example, if you are on a phone call planning a vacation, the device will write down details like flight times and hotel reservations for you.
Users can also connect the Bee devices to apps they already use, like Gmail, Google Calendar, and Microsoft Outlook. Once connected, the AI can write follow-up emails or add events to a calendar based on what was discussed. The devices can also work with Amazon's Alexa+ voice assistant and Amazon's shopping website.
Some features are free, like getting conversation summaries and up to 14 days of memory storage. But if you want extra features — like linking to Alexa+ or getting suggested to-do lists — you will need to pay $11.99 per month for a Bee Pro subscription. Amazon says this makes the service flexible for different kinds of users.
Amazon says it takes privacy seriously with these devices. The company stated that "no one, including Amazon, can access your data." After the device writes down what was said, the audio recording is deleted. Your information stays private unless you choose to share it yourself.
These Bee gadgets are part of a huge and growing market for AI-powered devices. Other big tech companies are also jumping into this space. Meta recently announced a small AI assistant that clips onto a keychain. Microsoft, OpenAI, and Samsung have also released their own AI products for everyday consumers. Experts believe this market could be worth trillions of dollars in the years ahead.
"It takes note of the details you might otherwise forget and turns them into useful conversation summaries, to-dos, reminders, and insights."
