Tigers Pitcher Drew Anderson Could Be Traded Soon
The baseball player returned from Korea and is playing well, but his team is struggling.
When Anderson signed with the Tigers, he was excited about the chance. He had learned new skills while playing in Korea's top baseball league. He wanted to use those skills in Major League Baseball, which is the best baseball league in the world. Anderson thought the Tigers had a good chance to make the playoffs this year.
Before going to Korea, Anderson played for three different MLB teams. He played for the Philadelphia Phillies, Texas Rangers, and Chicago White Sox from 2017 to 2021. He appeared in 19 games during those years. The Tigers seemed like a good fit because they had made the playoffs in 2024 and 2025.
Unfortunately, the season has not gone as planned for the Tigers. The Tigers have lost 21 of their last 25 games, falling to 22-38 -- the worst record in the American League. This means they have lost many more games than they have won. Only two other teams in their league have worse chances of making the playoffs.
Because the Tigers are doing so poorly, they might sell their good players before the August 3 trade deadline. Anderson would be attractive to other teams that need pitching help. He is not as good as he was in Korea, where he won 12 games and had a 2.25 ERA. But he is still a solid pitcher who could help a better team.
