Doctors and scientists use a tool called MRI to look at how brain clearance works inside living people. MRI is a type of scanner that creates detailed pictures of the brain without surgery. It can show researchers how fluids move through brain tissue. However, no single MRI scan can capture everything happening in the clearance system, so scientists are still working to understand the full picture.

There is still a lot to learn about brain clearance. Researchers do not yet know exactly how much each part of the clearance system contributes to overall brain health. They also want to understand how clearance differs in various parts of the brain, at different ages, and in different diseases. Scientists are hopeful that future therapies might one day boost the brain's cleaning power. For now, getting a good night's sleep remains one of the best things you can do to help your brain stay healthy.
